What is a Record of Duty Status (RODS)?
The Record of Duty Status (RODS) is the official ledger of a driver’s time. In the trucking industry, this is more than just a timesheet; it is a critical safety and compliance document mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to combat driver fatigue—one of the leading causes of accidents on the road.
The Four Core Duty Statuses
To maintain accurate RODS, drivers must categorize their 24-hour cycle into four distinct statuses:
